Church of Our Miraculous Lady

This church was constructed in 1953 in Mexico City. Created by Felix Candela, it was made of concrete with reinforced steel.  Most of the membrane is 4cm thin while just on top is quite thicker for stability.  The church was design in just 2 weeks and constructed in 10 month. The design was made by modifications of Candela’s inverted umbrella module.  He repeated the module both sides to accomplish this beautiful 20.50m tall church.  Therefore this church is a great example of what can be done with a hyperbolic paraboloid.
